There are still a few nice days left in the season before the cold weather comes. Like myself, you are probably trying to get in as many outdoor activities as possible. Although it might not cross your mind, washing your own car can be a fun activity to add to that list. Not only does it provide exercise, and a clean vehicle but it also saves you money in the long run!
The first thing you will need is a hose, preferably with a spray nozzle, attached to some sort of water supply. Typically there is a spot along the outside of your house that will have a faucet you can screw your hose into for water. Now that you have got that under control, you need car wash supplies.
You will need a sponge of some sort. A big sponge is best to cover the large surface area of the car. The choice is yours whether to use a synthetic or natural sea sponge for the job. A sturdy bucket is the next of the car wash supplies. You can use any sort of bucket, provided that it holds at least a couple of gallons of water. A bucket and sponge would be no good, however, without some car wash soap!
There are many different types of car wash soap that you can buy, but make sure that the kind you pick is specially formulated for washing your vehicle. House hold dish soap might harm the finish of your car, so it is best to stick with the real thing. Now that you have all of the car wash supplies you need for a basic wash you can begin.
If you like to go the extra mile making your car look professionally done, there are a couple more things you might want to buy. A chamois cloth is good to have to dry your car by hand so it does not streak. After the car is dry, you can also wax it with special car wax to give it a luster that can not be beat. Just about all of these supplies can be purchased at your local grocery or specialty shop. Even though the initial cost of car wash supplies may be more than a one time car wash, you can use these items again and again to make your car look fantastic, which saves you money in the long run! Washing your own car is an all around win for car owners, with the added benefits of getting some sun and exercise, you will be driving your spotless hot rod around with a smile!
