Parents should also get a copy of the current school records for their children. Medical and dental records need to be kept current too.
There are certain military offices that handle moving. One such office for moving is the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office. Soldiers can talk to their Personal Property entitlement counselor to help make their move worry free. Moving can also be done on a do DITY bases. Upon approval the government will reimburse some military moving costs if you do it yourself. This way most of your military moving expenses will be covered. Military moving done on your own may be more convenient for some families.
There are approved moving companies that can come on base and pack up your belongings for you when you have to move. The military moving protocol will be followed by such moving companies. They pack up and move everything in the house for you. When everything according to certain specifications a military inspector will approve it. This is if the military housing is on base. Military families that live off base can use a moving company that can help them with their military moving needs on their own. The military moving costs will then be reimbursed by the military. When long distance military moving is needed the family can be reimbursed for up to 3 nights in a motel and for meals they eat during their drive. Moving truck can be rented and reimbursed as well. However, only the mileage between bases will be covered. When overseas military moving is required and a military jumper flight is not available the military will reimburse for a commercial flight.
