SEO technology is used so a website appears earlier in the search engine results which will lead to an automatic increase in the traffic. This is an "organic" or a "algorithmic" approach as there is no advertisement on the search engine page but the website appears naturally in the search results.

Another form of SEO is the black hat SEO technique where the developer uses aggressive marketing methods to achieve visibility such as keyword stuffing, the search engines have made it a point to ban such websites from their site. To discourage black hat SEO technology, Google has developed a method where even the off page aspects of a website are analyzed so the search engine can make a more reasonable option based on a better database.
